CURRICULUM FOR
THE SELF-IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM:
THE BASIS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
SELF-IMPROVEMENT:
Why is it called Self-Improvement and not Self-Development?
Self-Development is necessary, however, Development means growth and not necessarily change, whereas, Improvement means a total change for the better, and that is the change that we are addressing with this program.
I. SELF-EXAMINATION:
This is the first stage at making a change in one’s life. To examine
means to look closely or into as to determine what is the problem or what
needs to be fixed. To explore this we must examine how we look at ourselves,
not others, even if it is your spouse, brother, sister, or related persons.
We must look at how we rate on the scale of strength where our endurance and
will-power is concerned.
This examination is two-fold, thus:
It brings one face to face with who they really are to self – not what
one represents to others who don’t know the real person.
Secondly, it exposes one to self with the hope that
he/she will go and change the false image and bring out the true beauty of
Who he/she really is by nature.
(A righteous and most powerful person). This examination begins when we are
on the road of Self-Improvement or further advancement.
II. SELF-ANALYSIS:
This is the second stage of our journey to change our lives, for the betterment
of ourselves, our families, and our communities, and ultimately our nation.
Analysis means the separating or breaking up of any whole into its parts so
as to find out their nature, proportion, function and relationship.
